The Sixth Japan-China Energy Conservation Forum will be Heldlink
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Japan-China Economic Association will hold the Sixth Japan-China Energy Conservation Forum, a government-private joint forum of Japanese and Chinese energy and environmental fields in Beijing, on November 26, together with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Commerce of China as co-organizers. In the forum, in addition to the keynote speeches by leaders from the government and private sectors of Japan and China and the project signing ceremony, working sessions for an exchange of views on relevant experiences to date, policy issues etc. in relation to energy conservation and the environment will be held in a total of seven fields that both Japan and China have vested interests in. Further, prior to the forum in Beijing, local missions will be dispatched to Shandong, Chengdu, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nanjing and other regions so as to enhance the regional exchange of views in the fields of energy conservation and environment.

FY 2010 Energy Supply and Demand Reportlink
The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy has released a preliminary report on Japan’s energy supply and demand situation for FY 2010, based on the results of a variety of energy-related statistics. The summary of the report is as follows:
1) Final energy consumption increased 4.0% year on year (a 7.8% increase from FY 1990) due to economic recovery and weather conditions with a hot summer and a severe winter
2) Energy-oriented carbon dioxide emissions increased 4.4% year on year (a 6.0% increase from FY 1990) due to increased energy consumption

APEC 2011 Ministerial Meetinglink
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers' Meeting 2011 was held in Honolulu, from November 10 to 11. Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yukio Edano attended and held bilateral talks with Mr. Ron Kirk, the U.S. Trade Representative; Mr. Kevin Brady, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Trade, the Committee on Ways and Means of the U.S. House of Representatives; The Hon. Tim Groser, New Zealand's Minister of Trade; Ms. Elvira Nabiullina, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation; and Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, Minister of Commerce of Thailand.
For energy conservation matters, this year's Ministerial Statement includes the reiteration of the importance of green development. The statement states the importance of the target of 45% improvement in energy efficiency by 2035 relative to 2005 level. Also, the simplification of the international trade procedure of energy efficient cars and streamlining and abolition of inefficient subsidies for fossil fuel was included.
