FY 2008 Energy Conservation Prize

In Japan, February is designated as the “Month of Energy Conservation.” Coinciding with this energy conservation month, the government METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) holds an award ceremony at the event of ENEX. Related awarding ceremonies are held for including the “Energy Conservation Month Award” to recognize the outstanding contribution to energy conservation. The award selection committee consisting of experts and concerned parties conducted a stringent reviewing process and has made the final selection for the following awards:

List of Awards and Programs:
(1) “Energy Conservation Prize”

Prizes are awarded to consumer equipment and systems with excelled energy efficiency. There are four kinds of prizes as follows:
- METI Minister’s Award, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy Director-General’s Award;
- ECCJ Chairman’s Award;
- Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Director-General’s Award (a new prize created this year).

(2) “Energy Conservation Contest”
Prizes are awarded to the creative energy conservation ideas made by families and schools.

(3) “Commendation Program to Excellent Energy Managers”
This program honors individuals who have long been committed to promoting energy management and acknowledged to have made an outstanding contribution to energy conservation.

(4) “Commendation Program to Excellent Energy Management Factories”
This program honors factories and establishments that have made continuous efforts to promote energy management and produced such outstanding effects that they can serve as a model of these actions.

(5) “Excellent Energy Conservation Group Award of the National Contest of Energy Conservation Successful Cases”
This award honors a team of people working in a company’s project facilitating the corporate-wide energy conservation. Fostering the widespread use of energy-saving technologies or facilitate inter-industry or inter-company technology exchanges, these groups of people will be rewarded for their actions with this excellent award.
