Asian Symposium on Energy Efficiency and Conservation - “Cooling Asia, Heating Asian Economics”
13 Feb. 2009 Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry
An international Asian symposium “Cooling Asia, Heating Asian Economics” was held with the theme - “International Dissemination of Energy Efficiency Standard and Labeling Systems (S&L Systems)” to disseminate Japan’s outstanding S&L policies across Asia. There, Japan’s cooperation activities and policies featuring the S&L systems (e.g., the Top Runner Program) were presented by the initiative coordinated and organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
The ultimate goal of this symposium is to enhance business opportunities for Japanese industries that directly counter the global environmental issues. Also, much positive impacts are expected on the further creation of the energy conservation markets in Asia, which will provide the attractive business opportunities for Japanese businesses. For example in China, the Japanese government and the private sector have already begun a joint in-depth cooperation program to spread the use of energy-efficient air conditioners (a large market is expected for these types of air conditioners).
Detailed information on the symposium is posted in the following website: (The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan - IEEJ, the co-organizer of the event). (Japanese only):
