Revised Energy Conservation Law Announced

The “Ministerial ordinance partially amending the rules for the enforcement of the Energy Conservation Law” and the “Notification prescribing the evaluation criteria for the rational use of energy targeted for factories or business establishments” were announced by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry announced the effectuation (April 1, 2009) of the partial amendment of the “Energy Conservation Law (Law concerning the Rational Use of Energy)” and issued the ministerial ordinance prescribing the format used for the mandatory periodical reporting and the reporting deadline, as well as the requirements imposed on the franchise chains (the headquarter of the franchise chain). The Ministry also issued the notification prescribing the “Evaluation Criteria” for the rational use of energy targeted for the energy use by business establishments, etc.
