Technology Strategy Map 2010 Sixth Edition Published

Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the publication of Sixth Edition of the Technology Strategy Map 2010.This strategy map was first published on March 2005 and since has been published by METI with cooperative efforts by NEDO and others.
This roadmap is a compilation of carefully selected technology items, which are the vital factor for creating new industry and strengthening the global competitiveness of the leading industry. With its target of the technology set in the roadmap, the report brings about a plan to implement related measures which are not only for R&D, but also for other fields of measures. This roadmap is seen as beneficial to the cooperative promotional efforts for R&D management taken by METI and NEDO, cooperative efforts among different fields and business categories, technology integration, and innovation. The roadmap is vital for strategic implementation of collaborative R&D investment by industry-academic-government.
In this roadmap, regarding the energy technology field, 18 major technologies were selected based on the idea of “Green Innovation”, which was presented in “Japan’s New Development Strategy (Basic Direction) toward “Brighter Japan”” which received a Cabinet approval in December 2009. In this roadmap, detailed explanation is given for these technologies in the area of technology itself and recent trend of research and development.
