ECCJ / Small Group Discussion Presentation Group B

Cooperation ASEAN & Japan:-

Improving energy efficiency has the potential to bring energy supply and demand more into balance and lower the rate of growth in greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy efficiency is important in both the stationary and transport energy sectors and can be addressed by building up a comprehensive body of knowledge on member economies’ energy efficiency activities with the aim of leveraging national energy efficiency and conservation strategies through cooperative multilateral initiatives.

  • Encourage ASEAN-Japan collaboration to share data for the purposes of identifying and developing energy conservation indicators, and we encourage their use in designing focused energy efficiency & conservations policies, laws and measures.
  • Encourage ASEAN countries to make every effort to share information on energy efficiency policies and programs under the Pledge and Review Program, including best practices for improving energy efficiency.
  • Direct the ACE EEC-SSN under SOME – METI program to identify best practices, benchmarks, and indicators to assess efficiency improvements.
