Energy management
in Integrated Steel Plants after modernisation

Strategy for Modernisation & Expansion
  • Adoption of the state-of-the–art technology
  • Phasing out of obsolete technology and equipment outlived their useful life.
  • Optimum utilisation of existing facilities
  • Improvement in energy efficiency
  • Reduction of semis for sale by enhancing finished steel production
  • Enhancement of production & realisation of ‘Economy of scale’ by augmenting capacity of pr0duction of hot metal, crude steel & saleable steel.
  • Value addition in the product-mix
  • Broadening the product-mix for higher flexibility
  • Adoption of environmental friendly technology
  • Creation of infrastructure to sustain further growth in production

MAJOR ENERGY SAVING MEASURES ENVISAGED
    Cokemaking area
    • 7 m ht. battery with coke dry cooling system (BSP,RSP & IISCO)
    • Reduction in coke ash (15% for all plants)
    • Generation of steam from sensible heat of hot coke (BSP, RSP & IISCO)
    • Proper insulated bricks in the oven roof zone and oven door’s surface
    • Special leak proof doors to prevent heat loss
    Sinter making
    • Base blending of sinter-mix (BSP, RSP, DSP & IISCO)
    • Lime dozing facility
    • Waste heat recovery from sinter cooler(BSP, RSP, DSP & IISCO)
    • VVRF drives in motors
