The energy consumption in the commercial sector is consistently increasing.This is attributed to a significant increase in total floor area for offices, business buildings, etc.

Energy consumption in the transportation sector surged after oil crisis and has leveled off in recent years. Per-capita energy consumption in the transportation sector is on the increase in all major countries.
