  • The energy consumption target is high (twice that of offices)
  • Steam is required for medical purposes such as sterilization
    Steam boilers are installed
  • Many items of medical equipment, such as MRI and CT scans and X-ray equipment (3.5% of the total electric power consumption)
  • Comprised of many departments operated in different ways (e.g., wards, outpatient facilities, and diagnostic facilities)
  • High energy use at night (30%)
  • The energy density of the kitchen for preparing patient meals is extremely high
