Establish a targetfor improvement
  • Indication method: Energy consumptionor Energy intensity
  • Target value: Decide on the basis of actual value, or Decide on the basis of theoretical calculation value(Minimum value, maximum value, optimum value), orDecide on the basis of facility design valueor nominal capacity value.
  • Who establishes the target?
Engineer establishes the target.-This is the ordinary way, aside fromsituations where theoretical calculation is necessary. or,Operator establishes the target(subject to engineer's approval)-
In such cases where a target is considered on the basis of actual value. or,Manager establishes the target.-by counting backward from thenecessaryreduction in cost
-It may also relate to the level of improvement.

Establish and carry out a counter measure
  • Who takes the leading role in the establishment and implementation of the counter measure and
  • Who will be the leader of the promotion of the activity.depends on the improvement level to be achieved as outlined in the "Step of improvement."
    In general,
"Step 1": improvement at operation management level, the operatorscan take a leading role, and the engineer cooperates in giving advice.
" Step 2" : improvement, the engineertakes a leading role, and herespects theoperator's opinion.
" Step 3" : improvement, the engineer takes a leading rolefor studying the measure, but the executive officerdecideswhether the measure will be carried out or not.

Improvement of operation Improvement of operation at Heating furnace(fuel gas combustion)
In this case, the cause of high energy intensity is due to high air ratio combustion:

How toincrease energy efficiency?
Basic methodology of management
To repeat "P-D-C-A"circleis very effective and important.

<General conception>
Flow ofManagement circuit(production, cost, energy consumption, etc.)

Energy audit (Factory audit) for energy conservation
