5.2.1 AKITA ORIENT SEIMITSU CORP.; Excellent Case in 2006, Awarded by Chairman Prize of ECCJ

5.2.2 1.Efforts for energy conservation

5.2 Project Activities
5.2.3
  • 4. Analysis of the current situation
    [1] Compressors      22 kW x 2, 55 kW x 8, 100 kW x 3
    • 55 kW compressors under quantity control consumes 26 kW during unload operation. The unload time is long and equivalent to 187,000 kWh of annual electricity. “Reduction of unload time”, “prepare budget under the plan to add new high-efficiency compressors”.

5.2.4
  • [2] Core facility system
    • 1) Energy conservation of vacuum pump: two 22 kW water sealed vacuum pumps under normal operation
Target: operation of one vacuum pump while testing of vacuum
      2) Energy conservation concerning the cooling and heating water pumps (air conditioning heat source)
Inefficient operation was done with the water valves throttled at about 30% openings.
      3) Energy conservation for air conditioning
Air conditioning was on for 24 hours a day with employees working 24 hours in shift. It was difficult to intervene with temperature and humidity set points. A model floor was set up and energy conservation measures were taken for the model floor with the cooperation of concerned divisions. It was planned to transfer achievements of the model floor to other floors.
Temperature and humidity data loggers were placed on the model floor to get hold of the real situations.
  • [3] Manufacturing machine system:
    •   various types of manufacturing machines
A number of problems prevented “machines idle but consuming standby electric power as much as about 70% of running power” from being completely stopped by shutting off the breaker to the facility.
