5.2 Project Activities
5.2.5
  • 5.1 Energy conservation measure detail (1)
    [1] Compressor system
Introduction of the multiple unit control system, ietc.
    1) Reduction of no-load operation time
    1. The poor response in controlling was such that it allowed the second compressor to start even immediately after the first compressor started. The lag time for the second compressor to start after waiting to confirm the effect by the first compressor was adjusted.
    2. A given length of downing time (cooling time) was set for the compressor. Once the compressor was started, the compressor was set to run for 20 minutes, regardless of whether the compressor is under load or not. Further, a given length of “no-load operation” was set before the compressor could stop. The set value was modified and the time of the “no-load operation” was reduced.
Rate of no-load operation:34% on average -> 14% on average
    2) Installation of a high-efficiency compressor
A high-efficiency compressor was installed anew for base-load operation, with fluctuating partial loads covered by single-stage compressors under multiple unit control. An inverter controlled refrigerating dryer system was adopted.

5.2.6
  • [2] Core facility system
Indication of the names of persons responsible for air conditioners and clear definition and indication of set points; scheduled operation of air conditioners and others
    (1) Vacuum pumps: two 22 kW water-sealed vacuum pumps operated
Only a certain number of manufacturing machines required high degrees of vacuum. Small-sized vacuum pumps (stocked equipment) were installed on manufacturing machines which required high degrees of vacuum, and operation of one of two 22 kW water-sealed vacuum pumps was terminated.
    (2)Cooling and heating water pumps
Measure for inefficient operation of cooling and heating water pumps with valves throttled at about 30% openings: inverter control of pumps

5.2.7
  • (3)Air conditioning
    • Room temperatures at window sides tended to be high because of “sunlight from outside” -> installation of window blinds
    • There were some places excessively cooled. (It was confirmed by a confirmation experiment that the backup air conditioning system constantly running idle could be stopped in normal times.) -> operation terminated
    • The operation of backup air conditioning system was regulated by a dial regulator from 1 to 5 power grades. The attached sensor was removed and control system was modified to a one controllable by external sensor for temperature setting and setting was adjusted.
    • The operation of and ventilation by air conditioning system were controlled by the attached sensor, and the fan was normally running. ->
The fan is not running except when the air conditioning system is running.

5.2.8
  • Energy conservation measure detail (3)
    [3] Manufacturing machine system
A working group for reduction of standby electric power of facilities was installed. (Organization including concerned professionals)
    (1) Reason for not being able to shutoff the power source
Loss of programs, • problems associated with startup time, • problems associated with securing of quality after starting up
    (2) Result of survey and analysis
The batteries for supporting storage media for programs was not periodically replaced, and it was found that certain facilities could not startup because of necessary data having been lost.
