ECCJ Held Energy Audit Report Meetings in the FY2021 Energy Conservation Support Project for the ASEAN Region

ECCJ Held Energy Audit Report Meetings in the FY2021 Energy Conservation Support Project for the ASEAN Region

<Meeting>
Under the instruction and financial support of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ) is implementing Scheme 2 of the FY2021 EE&C capacity building program for the ASEAN region. Scheme 2 is a program which aims to foster energy manager trainers and to develop and improve systems for certifying them. As part of this program, ECCJ held report meetings during the three-day period consisting of January 18, 19 and 20, 2022 regarding the results of energy audits conducted by energy manager trainer candidates from each ASEAN country. This is intended to confirm items including the progress situation of reports relating to the results of the energy audits which the training participants, all candidate trainers, have implemented in their own countries for final evaluation at the ECAP25 invited training that will be held in February 2022. Candidate trainers who could not implement audits in their own countries in the current fiscal year due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic were able to conduct audits using a new training method (known as the virtual energy audit). In this new method, ECCJ provided data which it had specially prepared for this training, and the candidate trainers had to consider and propose energy conservation measures based on this data.

Views of audit report meetings (ECCJ and Cambodia)
Views of audit report meetings (Malaysia and Myanmar)

1. In the training held this time, there was participation by 18 energy manager trainer candidates from each ASEAN country.

2. Twelve of the participants conducted virtual energy audits, a method which was tried for the first time. However, even when comparing their results with those of the six participants who conducted actual energy audits in their own countries as in the past, it was confirmed that there were no major differences from the evaluations of the report contents.

3. In addition to the report results considered this time, the results of the examinations conducted during the training of trainers held in Thailand in November 2021 and the results of the examinations to be held during the ECAP25 Workshop in February 2022 will be comprehensively evaluated, and it is planned to certify satisfactory participants as energy manager trainers.
