1. Legal framework for improvement of energy efficiency and conservation
(1) Law
Currently, there is no Law for improvement of Energy Efficiency and Conservation but will formulate in near future.

(2) Regulatory Measures
1) Regulatory Measures based on the law
There is no regulatory measure, but performing energy efficiency and conservation on individual basis.

2) Other regulatory measures
Not yet.

(3) National plan for improvement of energy conservation and energy efficiency.

National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Policy has already drafted under National Energy Management Committee.

Policy goal as national energy efficiency targets are 12% energy consumption reduction by 2020 and 20% by 2030 based on 2012.

Policy Measures:
(i) To adopt energy efficient process technologies in all industrial sectors

(ii) To incorporate energy efficiency aspects in new building design and refurbishment of existing building

(iii) To specify energy performance standards and labeling for electrical home appliances

 

2. Financial measures taken by the government
(1) Tax scheme
For the purpose of energy efficiency promotion activities, there is no tax scheme yet but there is future roadmap.

(2) Low-interest loan
There is low interest loan from government and some private banks for the purpose of small and medium enterprises development.

(3) Subsidies and budgetary measures
There are budgetary measures for energy efficiency promotion activities.

(those efforts that are made by various foreign countries, international organizations, local governments, private sectors, etc., and that have effects to promote energy conservation in one’s own country)
ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE), Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) are currently cooperated in energy efficiency promotion activities in Myanmar.
