Awarding Programs to Energy Conservation Efforts

Energy Conservation Grand Prize Award in Japan

This project is designed to award excellent energy conservation activities and advanced energy conservation products achieved by technological development at private companies, autonomous communities and educational institutes. There are five different awards for the program, Grand prize of Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Prize of Director General of Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Prize of Director General of Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, Prize of the Chairman of ECCJ and Special award from judging committee. (Sponsored by ECCJ)

 

 

The program has two categories as follows:

 

 

(1) Energy Conservation Best Practices at workplaces

This is intended to award business operators with promoting excellent electricity-saving and energy
conservation activities at their factories and business places.
Evaluation items:
・ Spirit of innovation and originality
・ Potential of energy conservation
・ General versatility
・ Potential of upgrade and continuation

(2) Energy Conservation Best Products and Business Models

This is intended to award business operators developing products with excellent potential of energy
conservation (including components and materials) or creating business models which have great
spillover effects on energy conservation.
Evaluation items:
・ Process of development
・ Spirit of innovation and originality
・ Potential of energy conservation
・ Potential of resource saving and recycle
・ Marketability and economic efficiency
・ Environmental friendliness and safety

Expansion of the Awarding Program to the world

With the support of Japan, the award system (especially, examination committee system) similar to the Energy Conservation Grand Prize Award (best practices category) was established in ASEAN.
Japan also contributed to countries other than ASEAN i.e. one of the technical committee members of TOP TENs as shown below.
