The Energy Conservation Law amendment plan entered the Diet deliberation – Energy saving cooperation certification and expansion of shipper restrictions

The bill to revise the Energy Conservation Law was discussed at the Economy and Industry Committee of the House of Representatives on May 16. Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry explained the purpose of the amendment of the bill, such as collaboration of energy conservation efforts cooperated by multiple business operators and targeting laws and regulations of additional inclusion of Internet retailers in definition of “Shippers”. It was emphasized that we need to promote all kinds of energy conservation measures to realize energy mix plan (power supply composition of 2030). The revised bill aims at establishment within the term.
