Industrial Structure Council revealed to focus on decarbonization at the general meeting 一 Priority items for economic and industrial policy in 2020
The industrial structure council (advisory body of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Chairman: Hiroaki Nakanishi, Chairman of Nippon Keidanren) held a general meeting on August 9th, and summarized the priority items of economic and industrial policy in FY2020.
Regarding energy related matters, the correspondence to the drastic review of FIT at the end of FY2020 is clarified. The development of decarbonization technologies, where Japan has advantages, such as hydrogen, energy conservation and nuclear reactor technologies will be . VPP (Virtual Power Plant) demonstrations to utilize electric vehicles (EV) as energy resources will continue to proceed.
In addition to the consignment fee system reforms, the development of digital control technology utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and IoT (Internet of Things) will be accelerated. Efforts will also be made to establish a system to expand the data utilization. Nuclear power will be steadily re-operated, and strengthening the human resources for decommissioning and technologies.
In terms of climate change countermeasures, joint research was established through the “RD20”, an international conference led by Japan, which will formulate the “Innovative Environmental Innovation Strategy” that will soon be considered, and brought together the clean energy technology research institutions of G20(G-20 major economies). Overseas expansion of the energy efficiency global benchmark system will also be promoted.
