Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced budget requests for 一FY2020 Energy policy special account increased by 15.7%
On October 30th, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced budget requests for FY2000. The total required amount was 1,429.2 billion yen, an increase of 15.1% (187.1 billion yen) from the initial budget for FY2019. Of this amount, 836.2 billion yen, an increase of 15.7% (11323 billion yen), was allocated to the special account for energy policy. Allocate intensively to the efforts of energy conversion and decarbonization.
For the acceleration of Fukushima reconstruction, 14.1 billion yen, an increase of 21.3% ( 20 billion yen) will be invested. While steadily advancing countermeasures against decommissioning and contaminated water at TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi NPS, continuous effort to work on the “Fukushima New Energy Society Initiative” with the prefecture as the base of the renewable energy industry will be made.
In terms of energy conversion and decarbonization, it demanded 51.5 billion yen, an increase of 13.2% (58.4 billion yen). In anticipation of the realization of hydrogen society, along with promoting the dissemination of fuel cell vehicles (FCV) and accelerating the development of hydrogen stations, the development of next-generation fuel cell technology will be supported. The budget will be allocated thoroughly to the “carbon recycling” technology innovation advocated by METI.
On the other hand, in strengthening resource security based on the international situation, increased 30.7% to 128.3 billion yen will be invested. Promote technological development for commercialization of methane hydrate and research on oil and natural gas resources.
