Greenhouse gas emissions decreased in 2020 for seven consecutive year

On 10th December, Ministry of Environment(MOE) announced that greenhouse gas emissions in 2020 decreased to 1,149 million tons by 5.1% from the previous year in the preliminary report. This is the seven consecutive years of decline. This was the lowest ever recorded since the statistics began in FY1990, which is three years in row,.
While greatly decreased in industrial and transportation sectors, household sector was increased which was considered to be due to the stagnation of economic activity and increase in staying home due to COVID-19.

For each sector, there was great decrease from the previous year in industrial and transport sectors by 8.3% and 10.2% respectively. It was 4.1% decrease for commercial sector and 4.9% increase for household sector.
