India is currently promoting formulation of an Indian version of the “Energy Conservation Guidelines” as a policy for promoting energy conservation in the industrial sector. A Steering Committee was established in May this year under the Indian Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) to facilitate creation of an original draft of an Indian version of the “Energy Conservation Guidelines”. Recently, the general framework of the Indian version of the “Energy Conservation Guidelines” had been determined, and an “Interactive Session on Draft Energy Conservation Guidelines” was held in Delhi under the sponsorship of the BEE in order to hear opinions from a wide range of general corporations and industry groups. ECCJ was invited to attend this as an observer, and gave explanations relating to an overview of the Japanese Energy Conservation Guidelines.
